SureHire Occupational Testing started operation in Edmonton in 2004. Their Founders, Physiotherapists in profession, recognized the high volume of injured employees that were seeking treatment. They believed there to be an opportunity to create preventative solutions to avoid an injured workforce. With this vision, they founded SureHire Occupational Testing which has grown from one to ten locations across Alberta and has created national partnerships to service its customers across Canada.
SureHire offers the full spectrum of occupational testing services. This includes Fitness to Work, Drug & Alcohol, Audiometric, Lung Health and some specialized testing services. SureHire uses its national exclusive testing network to offer standardized testing to organizations across many industries. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Director, Operations will report to the President & CEO and will provide leadership to all functions directly supporting the operations of the business, including Operations, Information Technology and Human Resources. The successful candidate will oversee and lead business operations by bringing a forward-thinking approach with a focus on continuous improvement and results. The Director, Operations is a key member of the Senior Leadership team and will continually focus on enhancing the business operation alongside the Director, Customer Experience and Director, Finance.
The successful candidate will review current operations and look for opportunities to implement best practices and new process to optimize the efficiency of the company. You will support the 10 branch locations and the operations of the larger partnership network in Canada and the United States. You will work with the leadership team through growth opportunities and expansion of the business. You will work in collaboration with the Director, Customer Experience to understand the needs of the client and to align operations in a manner to best meet these needs. You are a change agent and never satisfied with status quo; you are always looking to create an operation that is forward thinking, innovative and transformational.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality
• Ensuring quality and continual improvement in business operations
• Collaborate with Manager, People & Culture to determine opportunities for training that will continually enhance quality delivery of our services
• Focus on internal and external customer experience (employee, client, donor and partner clinics), ensuring exceptional customer service is consistently delivered
Process Improvement
• Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of SureHire’s mission and core values, reviewing current processes to ascertain success or changes required and lead change
• Continual focus on process improvement and innovation; including focus on how technology can create consistent and repeatable processes
• Consistent analysis of current operational procedures and protocols to ensure efficacy, leveraging internal resources (Business Analyst)
• Collaborate with the applicable department leads to implement improvements within the operation
People Leadership
• Bring a creative approach to coaching and developing Managers, and employees with respect to innovative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to drive a common vision and desire for growth
• Provide a high level of support to the team reporting into this role, recognizing that people are the greatest asset, completing regularly scheduled meetings with all direct reports, one on one and team meetings
• Establish applicable metrics for respective functions to drive toward achievement of the strategic plan and departmental targets
• Partner with the Director, People & Culture to focus on retention and attraction of high caliber staff recruitment
• Provide inspiring leadership by creating a culture of excitement, accountability and service, that’s in alignment with our client’s policies and core values
Operational and Fiscal Accountability
• Achieve set results as outlined by the company scorecard – operational performance, customer satisfaction and employee engagement
• Reviewing and approving equipment costs and needs
• Promptly report any events that may materially or adversely affect the operation of SureHire to the President & CEO
• Participate in completion of annual budget and planning process
• Oversee and manage costs to annual budget, advising President of any variances
• Manage applicable operational vendor relationships and contracts (insurance, leases, etc.)
• Serve as primary liaison to legal counsel in addressing legal issues
• Additional tasks and duties as assigned

THE INDIVIDUAL
Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of SureHire and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:
Education
• Post-secondary education in Business or a related field, MBA is considered an asset
• Project Management Professional Certification considered an asset
• Six Sigma certification is an asset
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with responsibility for multiple branch locations and operations
• Strong background in managing profit and loss of a business or a division with a strong track record of success
• Experience in retail, hospitality or a medically related industry would be ideal
• Experience in Occupational Testing or Clinic an asset, but not required
