THE OPPORTUNITY

The Information Technology Manager, Canada will report to the Regional Finance Manager, Canada, with functional reporting to the North American Information Technology Manager.  The successful candidate will contribute to the economic success of the company by ensuring that Information Technology (IT) delivery capability meets current business needs while identifying opportunities that support future growth and sustainability agendas. The role achieves this primarily by ensuring that business IT requirements are documented, prioritized, and managed to fulfillment.

This position is responsible for working alongside the organization’s leadership team to facilitate and supervise the day to day IT activities by designing, monitoring, and implementing information systems in compliance with corporate policies and processes to manage and maintain the User Endpoint Devices.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the management, strategy, and execution of the company’s IT infrastructure
  • Contribute to the corporate strategic direction by identifying areas for growth and innovation to maintain a competitive edge
  • Ensure IT best practices and guidelines are communicated, and company Standard Operating Environment (SOE) practices are implemented and followed
  • Maintain and improve the SOE best practices/guidelines through documentation of procedures that comply with company policy
  • Anticipate IT problems and implement preventive measures
  • Implement and monitor Divisional IT policies
  • Create, implement, and lead both Regional and Global IT projects
  • Manage relationships with suppliers regarding the purchase, replacement, licensing, and maintenance of hardware and software
  • Establish and maintain user hardware and software budgets and inventory tracking
  • Implement ITIL based best practices
  • Manage IT Support Team workload to achieve timely delivery of services
  • Provide data reporting of KPIs and trends on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis to support the development of strategies to improve incident management practices
  • Promote a customer service focused approach to IT Support activities
  • Provide subject matter expertise for governing bodies to ensure high quality service delivery, ongoing strategic partnership, and support
  • Facilitate and document recurrent team meetings
  • Prepare monthly reports on the health of endpoints within the environment
  • Provide technical support for approximately 200 – 400 end users throughout Canada
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

 

FIRST YEAR – MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Maintain consistent “Closure Rates” of IT Canada Help Desk calls with issues being resolved within 48 hours
  • Review and consolidation of Canadian IT Vendors
  • Progress towards aligning the IT core compliance requirements for Canada with global headquarters
  • Elimination of technological debt (technical solutions that no longer exist or do not have support)
  • 5% reduction in IT and Communications expenditures relative to Company top line revenues

 

THE INDIVIDUAL

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

 

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience

 

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience with progressive responsibility in the Information Technology field of technical application processes and support
  • 5+ years experience in IT Infrastructure Operations, IT Service Management, or IT Business Operations
  • 5+ years of endpoint systems administration experience
  • Microsoft MCTS Certified or willing to get certified
  • Networking certification such as Cisco or Network+ required (or proven experience)
  • Proficient in PowerShell
  • ITIL Knowledge or willing to get certified in ITIL Foundation
  • Proven experience in change management with a track record of success

 

Competencies and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in supporting and managing Microsoft Windows Client Operating Systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Administration
  • Experience with Configuration Management Tools
  • Proficient in cloud computing virtualization software platforms
  • Experience in task automation and configuration management software
  • Knowledge of enterprise service management software
  • Familiarity with mobile device and operation system management platforms
  • Proficient with version control systems

  • A solid project management background having taken a strategic plan and operationalized it

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a permanent, full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, with the successful individual being able to work outside normal business hours when scheduled to perform maintenance duties on production systems.
